About Suzanne

Hello!

Suzanne Milligan at the beach

I’m Suzanne — a registered psychotherapist offering online therapy grounded in Internal Family Systems, somatic approaches, and long-term contemplative practice.

I work primarily with women in midlife and beyond, as well as individuals and couples, who feel unsettled by persistent self-criticism, inherited emotional patterns, or long-standing inner tension that insight or willpower hasn’t resolved.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and self-aware — yet still find themselves reacting in ways they don’t choose, or feeling inwardly divided despite years of effort.

How I work

My approach is relational, body-aware, and depth-oriented.

Rather than fixing or overriding symptoms, we slow things down and pay attention to what’s happening beneath the surface. This creates enough safety for protective patterns to soften, and for steadier inner guidance to begin to emerge.

I work in a way that respects the intelligence of the nervous system, the role of protective strategies, and the pace at which real change tends to unfold.

A little more about me

Outside the therapy room, I’m someone who is nourished by time near the ocean, tending a garden, learning about astrology, doing my buddhist and qi gong practices, and making art.

These aren’t hobbies I mention casually — they’re part of how I stay connected to rhythm, patience, and presence in my own life. They remind me that change doesn’t happen through force, but through attention, timing, and care.

This sensibility quietly informs my work: listening for what’s ready, expressing myself, and trusting that something meaningful can grow when the conditions are right.

Background and training

Alongside my clinical training, I bring over thirty years of Buddhist meditation practice and a long background in body-based work. This integration — emotional, embodied, and respectful — shapes how I support people toward greater clarity, calm, and self-trust.
